Students will be able to use the manipulative as independently as possible when learning the skills they need to gain the skills to be productive adults. Students will learn the same academic skills with concrete materials that will tie into real-world scenarios. Using manipulatives allows me to individualize the lesson to each student's needs and level. Students have different academic levels as well as different ways/abilities to comprehend lessons. They will not require as much supervision as they do when working on paperwork. Working on paperwork requires 1:1 instruction; however, they can work in small groups or independently when students work with manipulatives.
