By donating to the project, you will help to improve and increase student interest in reading, and help students be more successful in their classes to graduate from high school. My students will use the books to address relevant issues that they are often faced with in their lives. By having the opportunity to address these issues, students will be better prepared to know how to handle situations when they occur. Both books have received countless awards and directly focus on bullying while touching on other issues such as, self-esteem, tolerance and acceptance. Our students are faced with these issues on a daily basis. Our hope is that the students will find reading a young adult novel insightful, while deepening their knowledge on the importance of treating each other with respect and understanding. Additionally, we are focused on creating lifelong readers who are armed with reading strategies to be successful in all academic areas.
