Open and differential seating allows students to take charge of their environment and make the choices that work best for them; in and outside of the classroom. Transitioning to middle school and matriculating through middle is already tough, factor in COVID- 19, and houston we have a problem. Having access to different types of seating not only addresses services needed in the self contained sped environment, but gives students a mature feel to the classroom, needed in helping them develop in a new environment; also serving as an incentive during acceleration. Ensuring comfort and responsibility in the academic setting is balance and are essential component in motivation. I've observed incredible differences in behavior and motivation in my students when they are given a choice in their seating. They make more good choices regarding behavior, are more engaged, and get more work completed than when they are just sitting at their desk. My students are more confident/ engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers when they are given a choice of where to work, and interactive learning option(s). The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices. The beanbags are adjustable to height can withstand all weight(s) and will allow students to sit at desk, while allowing safe/ comfortable movement. These will be extremely helpful for some students that just need to be calmed, coming from other classes. Some of my students face bullying in other classes prior to mine or are simply just amped up. The Samsung flip board allows for interactive and easier learning. It can serve as a projector as well, while allowing students to actually come up to the board and present. Its mobility allows me to share with other teachers.
