Although my students are back in the classroom, the use of student computers during class has not gone away. There are a variety of online programs we use in the classroom throughout the day. Whether it be time for reading, math, small group, or free time, students are asked to pull out their Chromebooks many times in one day. While using these online programs, students are listening to stories, watching educational videos, or reading aloud to the computer. When all of this is happening at once, our classroom becomes quite noisy. With personal headphones, students can fully enjoy and fully utilize their learning websites without the distraction of other computers and sounds in the classroom. Headphones with microphones also help eliminate outside sounds when the students are recording themselves reading. The presence of headphones with microphones for each student would make our learning environment more successful.
