These supplies will help us expose students to STEM. There is an old proverb that says "What I hear, I forget. What I see, I remember. What I do, I understand." We want students DOING STEM, because we want students to understand the possibilities that exist. With these materials, students will explore energy, DNA, and natural disasters (earthquakes). Students in the entire school will have the opportunity to get "hands on" with real-world STEM situations. Sixth grade students will build their own structures and test their stability on the earthquake shake tables. Seventh grade students will construct DNA with craft supplies. Eighth grade students will explore energy and energy transformations with pool noodle roller coasters.
