I want to give my students a place to calm down when they are overstimulated, anxious, or just need a moment to relax. Sometimes my students, and frequently students that are not mine, become frustrated. They may have had a bad morning at home or they may be having difficulty in class. They need a quiet place to relax for a few minutes and de-escalate. Some of these students have large families and they never have a quiet place just to relax. I have a corner set up for them, but it is a work in progress. I would like them to have a choice of sensory items and some art supplies to help them take their minds off their problems for a short while. They also need somewhere comfortable to sit. I think this calming corner will benefit all of my students. I want my students to have all the emotional supports they need to be successful.
