My students will study Greek vessels and the significance of the imagery found on many Greek Vases. They will develop their own storytelling skills as they delve into the world of pottery and create their own Greek inspired vessel.
Imagine embarking on a journey through history where you play a critical role as a craftsman from the past. You are tasked with documenting important events, religious beliefs, or customs. How will you share such stories, beliefs, or customs? What can you do to ensure they are passed down from generation to generation? What impact will they have on others?
These are just a few of many questions my students will be answering as they create their own beautiful work of art. I can only imagine the excitement my students will have as they journey through time and create something unique and personal. What is even more exciting is the fact than not a single student of mine has had the exhilarating experience of working with clay. Most of my students come from low income families and does not get many opportunities to try new and exciting experiences. I am fortunate enough to already have many of the supplies needed, but unfortunately, we do not have a kiln to fire the projects my students will create and my district does not have the funds to make such a purchase. Please help my students embark on this journey and allow them this wonderful opportunity that will continue to benefit many more students for years to come.
