The ability to be able to effectively tune a string instrument takes years to develop the aural skills needed. As a teacher, I use to tune for all my students until the middle of 7th grade. When the shut-downs first happened, many kids were left not knowing how to tune and through Zoom, I tried to teach this hands-on skill. I now teach this skill much faster and have found that a good tuner helps the kids SEE if they are in tune before their ears are ready to HEAR they are in tune. This donation will put a tuner in each child's hands, allowing them the ability to quickly assess their intonation. By using the tuner, my students will quickly learn how to tune. which will help their playing. Tuning is a fundamental skill needed and the tuners will help my students have success quickly.
