In our READ 180 class students work together to build essential literacy skills for college and career readiness, bring their reading proficiency up to grade level, develop multi-paragraph writing skills, apply reading and writing strategies to other subjects such as social studies, science, and math, and build background knowledge on various subjects through a computer-based program. This program requires headsets to build confident speakers and readers as they navigate through various academic segments. My goal is to show each student that they can become better readers by learning from their mistakes, staying focused on their individual goals, and never giving up! These headsets will allow students the opportunity to practice being more fluent and accurate readers by listening to their personal recordings. Every student in my class has a chance to improve and become the reader they want to be!
