These basic materials are desperately needed for students in our Basic Skills classrooms. All students enrolled in Basic Skills have an IEP (special education) and need a small group environment in order to receive support in academics, social-emotional learning, executive functioning, or all of the above from a special education teacher. Can you imagine trying to climb a mountain without the proper equipment? Currently, our Basic Skills teachers do not have some of the most fundamental materials needed to effectively provide these supports to our most impacted students. Calculators are needed for mathematics support ranging from the review of 7th and 8th grade skills (Pre-Algebra) to Calculus. Headphones help students with reading comprehension disabilities access text that may otherwise seem impossibly challenging at the outset. Folders were requested by the Basic Skills teachers so that students could keep track of assignments on their various block schedule days (A days and B days). Please consider donating to this project to help give our students necessary tools they need to be successful!
