Spiral Review Stations will make a big difference in giving each child the ability to achieve one to two years of growth. Students at Dual Immersion Academy come from low poverty in which education is not valued. These stations will help students to target the greatest areas of need. I have given my students English Language Arts diagnostic assessments and math pre-assessments. I now have data that confirms the very wide range of levels my students are at. My low students are very low and need me to provide individualized help. I also have several high students who I want to challenge so they can also gain 1-2 years of growth.
The stations item and rug will make it possible to create the distinctive stations that will give each student a safe space to learn at their own pace and receive a fair amount of help from teacher. The rug will be a station where students can practice shared reading, rereading, and utilize close reading techniques to improve their fluency, comprehension, and build academic vocabulary. Having the stations item that I am requesting will allow me to organize the bins to create the stations I will place throughout the room. This will be a great way to organize all the manipulatives students can use to help with their math skills.
