My students deal with a lot of trauma before they even set foot in my classroom. The focus this year is to "see a need, meet the need". If my students come in and haven't eaten or are dehydrated that is a need that I can easily meet with this project fully funded. They will have access to their own water bottles and snacks, If my students need a redirection or need their sensory needs met they will have access to tools such as "sensory boxes", "emotion boxes", noise cancelling headphones, stationary bike pedals, or desk bands. In order for my students to become successful learners their basic needs have to be met for them to process new information. Trauma Informed Care and Trust Based Relational Intervention will help my students to become the best learners they can be.
