I am requesting materials to create task boxes that will foster my students' independence, helping them to feel successful. The students in my self-contained classroom are accustomed to always needing help from an adult to do most of their work. I've been collecting data the last few weeks on all of the academic things they can be successful at on their own. Giving them practice with these tasks on a daily basis will help reinforce what they've already learned. Having ready-made task boxes to start out their morning can give my students a kick start for the day, exploration and practice, and a boost of self-confidence that they need to help them take more risks with their learning throughout the day.
