I am requesting fidgets, an area rug, scratch art paper, canvas panels, slime kits, Big Joe seats and wobble cushions. Everyone has different ways of coping. Some of my students need sensory items such as slime to help regulate while others use fidget items to help regulate their emotions. I selected coping mechanisms and alternative seating that can help meet these different needs. Students come to me when they are overwhelmed in the classroom or when they need some time to relax to avoid any altercations. I often find that students express their feelings more when they are utilizing coping tools and it is easier to get to the root of their problem.
