As a middle school ELA teacher, my job is to provide my students with multiple ways to learn new information and to help facilitate a student-centered reading culture. By utilizing fiction and nonfiction books on topics that we are learning in class, and on topics they are excited about, they are exposed to a variety of information across book genres. Having a large majority of my students being at, or below grade level readers, makes offering highly engaging books essential in cultivating an active reading life. These books will be available to all students in our classroom library. They will have access to these at all times throughout the year, and they are highly encouraged to take books home to read to family members and friends!
