After talking with a colleague about ways to improve the delivery of our math content, she shared a neat way to get kids to work in groups on math problems . . . through the use of colored Jenga blocks. There are several websites that give a TON of ideas on how to use the blocks, but the most basic is having a corresponding list of problems/questions for students to answer that match the colors of the blocks. When they move a block to the top, (like in a traditional Jenga game), they then need to choose one of the problems/questions that correlates with the block color they moved. It allows them freedom to choose which problems they want to do while also helping me make sure that all types of problems are covered with the different color categories.
