I teach reading to special education students that are two or more years below grade level. These books will help increase student's interest in reading as well as improve their comprehension skills. Graphic novels provide the visual supports special education students need while learning to read. The Manga, Sponge Bob, and Marvel books are of high interest to middle school students. The book will be used in class for reading projects, such as book reports, silent reading, and comprehension skill studies. I love teaching special education students to read, especially when using materials at their level and their interests.
