Organizing your thoughts, learning where to put the right sentence, and knowing how to find evidence from a text is essential. Post-it notes will help them jot down their thoughts when reading, highlighters can help them annotate and point out key details in a text, and colored pencils will help them color code their ideas to make sure that their writing is in just the right order. Not only will these materials help them successfully learn to read with purpose and to write with intention, but they will gain a sense of self sufficiency by having both the materials and skills to complete tasks independently. Encouragement and belief in yourself is just as important as knowing the skill. While materials are incredibly important, so are easily accessible and effective lesson plans and technology for instant and useful feedback. Not only is technology an enormous help when it comes to grading, but it provides teachers a quick and easy way to digitally showcase wonderful work for the class. Help these amazing students prepare for a college and career ready future by supplying everything they need to be ready for their present. I know what these scholars are capable of and with your help, we can build a classroom to help them achieve all that we know they can be.
