Since the beginning of the school year, I have encouraged my students to be 'wild readers,' or readers who always know what they want to read next. As a second year teacher who was predominately online last year, it has been hard to encourage my 'wild readers' because my classroom library is really small! My students have been making do with what we have, but they are really itching for some new books. In order to create lifelong, wild readers, I would love to expand my repertoire of books for them to explore and delve into! A lot of kids struggle to enjoy literacy, so I'm hoping a wider variety of novels will encourage all types of students to love to read and have a passion for books. The students will also be using these books to increase their reading level and practice applying the standards-based reading skills to actual pieces of literature - not just small excerpts from textbooks!
