Though my students do not have a science block built into our literacy-focused schedule, our second ELA unit is "Learning through Science and Story: Fossils Tell of Earth’s Changes." Students get to use information from several sources to provide evidence that Earth events can occur quickly or slowly. They love this unit! I would love to be able to use the fossil experiment kit to provide students with research opportunities as young scientists! The National Geographic kits have real fossils and paleontology tools: a chisel, brush, and magnifying glass. These kits makes an excellent STEM research opportunity. Students will be able to practice excavating dinosaur bones and shark teeth, using the tools we have learned about!
