In previous years the centerpiece of my robotics class has been to participate in a large regional robotics competition. However it has that has not been able to operate normally due to Covid restrictions. This year we are planning to participate in the Aerospace Robotics Competition which is an outdoor flying robotics competition involving drones. The students and I are super excited about learning to program autonomous flying robots. However there are some startup costs associated with the changing technology used in the class. I would like to be able to buy another drone kit to enable smaller group sizes so that everyone gets to be fully involved in building and programming the robots. I am currently planning on 7 students per kit and a successful campaign here will get me down to 5 students per kit.
