As young learners, the best place to learn is while traveling around the room. They go to centers, they sit at their desks, and they get close enough to me to see a good book. I love our read aloud times, and this is when the rug comes in. They will be able to sit comfortably while learning about the joy of reading. It is important for them to be seeing book handling skills, to be reading the pages and to be actively engaged. This is why a rug is so important!
