One of our biggest goals this year is to show kids that reading can be enjoyable! By adding a variety of books to my classroom library, my hope is that students find books where they see themselves or are able to relate in some way. The desire is that as we read throughout the school year, and that students build their reading stamina and vocabulary. If reading stamina and vocabulary increase, students are better prepared for high school and beyond! During the first twenty minutes of class two days out of the week, students participate in DEAR. Drop everything and read. That is why it is important to have interesting books that students can engage with while improving their reading fluency.
