During recess I have noticed that the students in my class all want to play with one of two things: building blocks or the one small tub of Lego bricks that I have on our math manipulative shelf. Besides those two tubs, I let them play with Base 10 blocks or plastic coins or clocks that we use normally for math class. I would love to have enough blocks and Lego bricks for every child to be able to play with them rather than have to take turns each week. It is amazing to watch young children create and build with Legos and blocks. It encourages creativity and working together. I would love to have enough of each toy/manipulative for every child in the class.
