As a first-year teacher, one of my goals is to build a print-rich environment and create an expansive classroom library. Our 2nd-grade class LOVES to read and I want to provide every opportunity for them to build upon their interests. Reading promotes critical thinking skills and improves a child's ability to problem-solve. Statistically, children who have proficient literacy skills often have a better quality of life in adulthood. I've chosen these books to bring diverse, inclusive, and interesting literature into our classroom. I've also included non-fiction texts to promote higher-level thinking skills.
