The donations to this project will help to improve my students' understanding of and competency in authentic, meaningful writing, reading fluency, reading comprehension, vocabulary, and literacy of mathematics. Some of the items will be implemented in our already-established writing, reading, and math rotations/workshops. The students learn content in small groups with individualized instruction. With your support, my students will have the opportunity to access materials that help engage and challenge their educational paths and increase academic achievement. Students will be using the touch/read CVC cards for more interactive learning while also promoting phonemic awareness and phonic skills during reading rotations. We believe there are many components to being an expert reader and building vocabulary is one. I have selected children’s dictionaries for my curious learners that are learning to expand their vocabulary for certain content areas and context. The reading comprehension daily practice books will encourage students to read different genres of work while pinpointing areas of need with comprehension. The hands-on money kit, place value kit, and geoboard kits give the students an opportunity to have concrete items for abstract concepts in mathematics. My students will use these materials to aid them in the process of becoming lifelong learners.
