I plan to create a lesson that will allow students to investigate new materials and create art in our foundations art class. In this case working with charcoal pencils and vine charcoal to create a value project on sulfite paper. This project will create awareness of the formal elements of composition and a working knowledge of the principles of design and elements of art. This project “My Real Life in Black and White” will allow students to experience the relationship between form and content in their creative process. Students will familiarize themselves with using charcoal materials and add them as another tool in their art skill set.
