Over a year of virtual learning has left some gaps, some potholes, in my exceptional learners' academic journey. Some have fallen to three years below grade level! For the 3rd graders, that's like starting over. To fill in what was lost while moving them forward will be a challenge. Each is a puzzle with a unique solution that draws from home life, cognitive processing, what they have, and what they have not. We need to relearn how to focus - flexible seating channels their attention. We need to practice our handwriting - tablet styluses bring kinesics to technology. New, colorful, complete, and purposeful supplies says, "Welcome back. I'm glad you're here!" Now let's fill some potholes!
