Children need to move. Flexible seating will allow them to rock, wiggle, bounce, lean, and stand. This will help the kids focus on their learning. This will also give the students a sense of choice. They will feel empowered by having some degree of choice over their learning environment. Kids engagement will improve! Studies have shown an increase in class discussion, more student engagement, and improved test scores when flexible seating is implemented in the classroom. Who wants to stay in a plain chair all day? I know my 1st grades don't. They would greatly appreciate any help to make their classroom more comfortable and inviting.
