I would like to purchase political and physical globes to include in a “One World, Many Stories'' book display in our Learning Commons. This display will highlight books with settings throughout the world and reflect a variety of cultures. The books will be available for all students to check out. We continue to build a diverse learning commons collection and promote books to encourage students to look critically at the world, acquire a better understanding of cultures, and embrace differences. The globes and book display will help students learn about cultural norms and traditions, increase their cultural and global awareness, and help them develop as open-minded learners. The globes will attract students to the book display, ignite their curiosity, and lead to increased engagement with the books on display. As students travel the world through books and meet characters from diverse cultures, the globes will allow them to visually locate the places they are reading about.
