Students do better when they feel they have some control over their learning and flexible seating is one thing teachers can do to help their students succeed. I use it during independent work and for the most part, the students make good choices for them. The lap desks will help them when sitting on the floor, because they really do like to do that. The chair bands can help those with anxiety when they have to be sitting at their desks, and it's a lot quieter than other things. Adding the books and shelves are an essential part of any classroom. It gives students a place to read, as well as working during independent work time. My hope is that my students will be comfortable in our classroom and that it inspires them to be life-long learners.
