I love what I do, however we know that teachers are the unsung heroes of the world. We are often overlooked and underpaid. COVID-19 has been and continues to be a catastrophic event for ALL fields, especially education. Our students are preparing to return face-to-face learning and our desire is to try to bring back a sense of normalcy to their lives. I say this to say that the school year is quickly approaching and it's this time a year where we stock up on supplies. Many of my students come from familial backgrounds where they cannot afford things that we consider "simple" or "cheap" like whisper phones. Some of my students experience life altering events that some adults have never experienced in their lifetimes. I am asking for donations for my classroom to help set my 2nd graders up for success this school year. The technology is limited in our building, which is why I requested a document camera. This will enhance content lessons. Our school currently does not have air conditioning and the classrooms have been 90+ degrees. This is why I wish to have a fan in my room. It will certainly help to to cool us down. To honor social distancing, the students much have individual supplies, this is why I requested the class set of whisper phones. If you cannot help at this time I totally understand, please pass the message on! We are returning to in-person learning and the items on this list will be very beneficial to have.
