Within my 4th grade classroom, students will be diving into a world of literacy in a variety of ways. Learning to read and write efficiently, students will be able to communicate effectively, keep up with current events, and understand issues that are shaping the world. With this project I hope to create a welcoming classroom space that will not only inspire my students to read and write independently, but boost their comprehension and help instill a life-long love of education. I would love for students to be able to each have their own comfortable pad that they can move about the room so as to be comfortable while enjoying independent reading and writing. I would like to provide soft lighting to help students relax when completing independent work. This project would also allow me to provide prizes and incentives for students, such as Flashlight Fridays where students can earn some fun time completing independent reading by flashlight.
