Literacy- based speech and language therapy is great way to open doors for language in a variety of contexts, print referencing, orthographic facilitation, and it promotes a variety of language opportunities. These books allow students to target goals that are focused on vocabulary, describing, articulation, and wh questions. Incorporating items like flash cards, story cues sequence cards, and foam magnets create an enriched, diversified, language rich environment in speech and language therapy. Students will use vocabulary cards to target labeling, description tasks, and increase their expressive language skills. Sequencing cards will allow students to target ordinal words and learn to sequence stories that will be needed as they advance through education. Kibbit - Bingo Style Game will allow the student Targeting Descriptive Language, and increase Sentence Structure to improve grammar and expand their mean length of utterances. These items provide opportunities for turn taking, following directions, asking/answering questions, and multiple trials for speech and language goals. Language based materials will allow for a variety of expressive, receptive, and pragmatic skills to be targeted throughout a session. All of these tools will promote improved speech and language in the population I serve.
