As a special education teacher one of the biggest and most important aspects of our day focuses on social emotional awareness and self regulation. Some of the items requested will help my students practice calming skills that will assist them in self regulation and allow them to refocus their attention to the tasks at hand. It is imperative that my students can see someone who looks like them in the books that are featured in my classroom library. Having a positive and diverse library also reinforces that anything is possible for my students.
