The Communication and Education Support (CES) program is designed to meet the individual needs of students with significant communication issues and significant behavior issues. Primarily, CES classrooms serve students who have autism spectrum disorders. With appropriate adaptations in place, children with autism can focus more on learning and less on trying to approximate behaviors. With the right modifications and accommodations children with autism can let go of some of their anxiety and relax. With a classroom tailored to their individual needs and things put in place for their success, can make the difference between a good educational experience and a not so good one. Helping my students self-regulate, advocate, and be more independent is my goal for this year. Learning who they are by supporting what they need has been my focus. Although CES is new at my school I have been blessed to see other programs and see the success of things listed for my project.
