I work in a urban, inner-city, title 1 funded school. My class consist of the lowest 25-30% of 6-8 graders in Math and Reading, which mean they didn't pass the state exam. There are students with language barriers, socio-economic challenges, and learning disabilities. Math is a difficult subject to get students re-engaged with once they have had a negative experience related to math in any way.
