Helping to get clipboards in my students' hands will free them from the confines of working at their tables. I imagine using clipboards to allow students to work and learn around the room at spots of their choosing. By giving students the freedom of choice, I believe it will keep them engaged in lessons they might otherwise lose interest in. I also plan to begin a "Write the Room" center, where students will search for various content (letters, numbers, sight words, CVC words, etc.) on our walls and record it upon discovery. Young learners like to move; they are eager to explore! Expecting kindergarten students to be stationary for much of their learning throughout the day is understandably challenging for them and an inappropriate ask from educators. Having a class set of clipboards will give students the opportunity to be in control of their learning and provide us with tools for success!
