The Big Book Cart that I am wishing for will provide housing and organization for the big books I use to model reading and comprehension strategies. Big Books are wonderful because the pictures and text are large, allowing many students to access and enjoy the writing in the book simultaneously. They are, however, difficult to store and keep organized. This often leads to torn pages and damaged covers. Having a mobile storage unit for the books will allow me to organize the books by unit and/or skill, as well as appropriate age level. It will also keep them in good condition. The storage unit will also make it easy for my students to access the books to read during their independent reading time. Additionally, individuals and pairs of students will be able to read the books we have used during lessons to practice their own reading skills.
