I am a Community School Manager at a dual language Title 1 school in East Oakland that serves 635 students in K-8. The students come from all walks of life. Most students are children of color who are united around the linguistic and cultural exchange of the dual immersion program. Another special feature of the school is that it uses project-based learning. The children are active learners, exploring their environment, understanding their community, and honing their academic skills in a rigorous, relevant, and meaningful way.
