My goal is to inspire a genuine interest from within which goes a long way to the learning process. Place value numbers are everywhere and it is vital that we understand them. I thrive on showing students real-world examples of why it's necessary to learn mathematics. The fundamentals of which numbers go in which columns are the building blocks to understanding fractions, multiplying/adding/subtracting/dividing bigger numbers--and we have to get them right. Finance, coding, communications, etc. all are dependent on which numbers are placed exactly where they need to be. These items and resources requested will be used by going beyond the textbook to do interactive exercises to get and keep the students involved. Activities such as the hands-on math kits through TeachersPayTeachers will drive the students' understanding by being able to actively change place values of numbers, see scales of numbers, and relate to real-world scenarios. This project is the groundwork for building on students' previous knowledge.
