Our students, some in the ASD 1 program, have a variety of sensory, instructional, and communication needs. Assistive technology can help meet these needs. By utilizing iPads within the classroom, we can diversify their instruction while meeting their adaptive needs. These devices will not only be used for instruction, but also as communication devices for our students! Various applications can provide auditory, visual, and tactile learning opportunities. iPads have built-in accessibility features, various educational applications, and are simple to use. A traditional laptop or computer often proves difficult for my students with developing motor skills to use.
