I have noticed that kids this year have more challenging behaviors and needs. Some of them have not been in school for over a year. In addition, they have been home with parents/caretakers longer than they are used to. For many of the students, their social skills have suffered. I would like to start the year off with social-emotional games. This is a perfect way to engage students and help them integrate learned skills into their lives. Best of all, when kids are having fun, it’s easier for them to open-up to help me address key issues that are happening in their lives. Fidget toys are very popular – for any kid. However, they especially help kids that have anxiety issues or difficulty focusing while in the classroom. Also, I strive to have a welcoming, safe environment. I am asking for posters that will enable the kids to identify with their feelings. By utilizing these tools, students can build a better relationship and understanding of overall emotions and how to help themselves.
