It is scientifically proven that students retain information more efficiently when it's provided in the form of a physical copy. Unfortunately, the opportunity for physical books was removed due to virtual learning. My students have overcome so much through virtual learning, given the opportunity, a physical copy of a book would create opportunity for my students' imagination to run wild. "We Beat the Street" is a book that covers a multitude of subjects. My students are introduced to cultures inside America that they may be unfamiliar with. However, the largest theme within the book is "overcoming obstacles". The characters grow up in a high crime, highly populated, city in New Jersey. Success for them was defined by not getting arrested before age 18. Like the book's characters, my students have overcome obstacles as well. They're able to relate to the book and learn to overcome obstacles of their own.
