Students will be using these materials everyday during our phonics time. Many of my students are struggling to read and benefit greatly from engaging hands-on learning. Students will be able to sit in a small intervention group and work on letter sounds, hearing sounds in words, counting sounds in words and creating words to read. These materials will help them do this. The white boards/clipboards will be used everyday. Students will write words and use the clipboard to keep their papers, allowing them to be mobile around the room. The pop-its will be used by students pressing a bubble for each sound in a word. The magnetic chips also helps students count the sounds they hear and then with the wand students will blend the word together by collecting all of the chips. The letter cubes and tiles will help students build words and practice sounding out unfamiliar words. The phonics games will be a great reinforcement activity they can play independently in their group.
