NYC kids are always traveling around the city on the go. Having a mini pocket notebook is a great way for aspiring writers to express themselves when inspiration strikes. Commuting to school on the bus or train is the perfect time for students to pull out their pocket notebook and jot down a short story, poem, or rap. Developing a love of writing can help students regulate their moods and process difficult emotions. Not all students have access to materials for writing which stops them from being creative. I hope to get students into the habit of writing in a daily journal to ground themselves, a skill that they can take with them throughout their lives.
