Sometimes students need a place to calm down and gather their thoughts together. A calming corner in the classroom offers students a chance to work through and process emotions such as anger or frustration so they can work to overcome their issue and return to their task. In our classroom, we are in the process of creating a calming corner. The bean bag and area rug will help furnish our calming corner. The donations will help children to practice identifying feelings and emotions to better manage stress, self-regulate and control their impulses. It gives them time and space to calm their sensory systems and take control of their emotions again.
