The books requested will support the planning and implementation of the group sessions by using Cognitive-Behavioral Theory interventions to support and treat stress and anxiety related to moving to the USA, learning a new language, and adapting to a new culture. Fidget toys, food, and tea are ways to welcome students, help them focus, and relax while attending the group. The sessions will include psychoeducation on stress, trauma and anxiety, students will practice coping skills to handle these symptoms, and they will engage in talk therapy to connect with each other, build community, and learn ways to accommodate to a new culture while meeting the academic demands. The main goal for this group is to prevent student drop out, connect students to community resources, and practice ways to handle stress and anxiety to support their learning in the class.
