I work in a center based autism program. Our mission is to have our students in their general education classrooms as much as possible with their same aged peers. Oftentimes our students get overwhelmed in the larger class setting. The sensory chairs I am requesting help my students gain more access to their gen ed classroom. These items decrease anxiety, give them a sense of calm, and help them to stay focused in the large group setting. The sensory toys I am requesting are for when students are anxious and need a small break. Sensory toys help get them back on track and back into the classroom, especially after challenging tasks. The lap buddies also help relieve anxiety and help keep my students in the seats, as well as help them feel confident when sitting with whole classroom on the carpet for whole group instruction. We will truly use and appreciate these items!
