Through learning to play chess, students will use their minds in new ways, while also exercising their social muscles of making new friends. It has been almost 2 school years since the students have last seen each other, and many are struggling to make new friends or reconnect with old ones. The students have asked me to set up a chess club as a place to learn new things and be with friends. With the new chess boards, I will set up a safe space for students to learn the game and compete with one another in a fun and friendly space.

About my class
